SnagBane sends a signed JSON webhook whenever something happens to a form — a new response, an edit, an approval request, an approval or a rejection. Point it at Make, n8n, Zapier or your own endpoint. Webhooks, Make and n8n work on every plan, including Free; Zapier is part of Business.
Events
| Event | When |
|---|---|
response.created | A form is sent |
response.updated | A response is edited |
approval.requested | A stage starts and waits for its approvers |
approval.approved | The last stage approved the request |
approval.rejected | An approver rejected it |
form.published / form.closed | The form opens or closes |
Approval events carry "approval": {"decision", "by", "comment"}, so the next step knows who decided and why.
Make, n8n and Zapier in three steps
| Service | In the service | In SnagBane |
|---|---|---|
| Make | Add Webhooks → Custom webhook and copy its address | Paste it, create the automation, click Test — Make learns the structure |
| n8n | Add a Webhook node (POST) and copy the Production URL | Paste it, create the automation, click Test |
| Zapier | Trigger Webhooks by Zapier → Catch Hook | Paste the URL, click Test, then Test trigger in Zapier |
Open the form → Automations, pick the service and follow the same steps shown there. Test sends the event the automation waits for — for an after-approval automation, an approved request with approval.by and approval.comment.
Reliable and verifiable
- Failed deliveries are retried up to 3 times; every attempt is in the delivery log, and any delivery can be re-sent.
- Each request carries
X-SnagBane-TimestampandX-SnagBane-Signature-V2— an HMAC-SHA256 oftimestamp.body— so receivers can verify it and reject replays, plus anX-SnagBane-Deliveryid that stays the same across retries. - Examples for PHP, Node.js, Python and C# are in the API reference.
Frequently asked questions
Can a webhook run only after approval?
Yes. Every automation chooses When does this run? — right away, after approval, after rejection or several events.
Are Make and n8n really free?
Yes: SnagBane's generic webhooks are on the Free plan, so Make and n8n work there. (Your Make or n8n account has its own pricing.) Zapier, Power Automate and Teams webhooks are part of Business.
