SnagBane forms can take payments with Stripe or PayPal. Set a fixed price or let a question hold the total — an amount, a slider or a calculation — and the respondent pays on Stripe Checkout or PayPal right after sending. Approvals, emails, webhooks and integrations wait until the payment is confirmed. Payments are part of the Business plan and use your own Stripe or PayPal account.
Setup
- Settings → Payments: paste a Stripe secret or restricted key and/or a PayPal REST app's client ID and secret (Live or Sandbox). Test the connection checks them.
- In a form, Settings → Payment: choose the provider, the currency and a fixed price or the question that holds the total. Nothing is charged when the total is empty or zero.
What happens when someone pays
| Step | What SnagBane does |
|---|---|
| Form sent | The response is saved as Awaiting payment; nothing else runs yet |
| Checkout | The respondent pays on Stripe Checkout or PayPal |
| Confirmation | SnagBane asks Stripe or PayPal when the respondent comes back, and every 5 minutes for two days — no webhook needs to reach your server |
| Paid | Approval, emails, integrations and webhooks run, exactly once |
| Not paid | An expired payment can be paid again from its link for 7 days |
The amount is always worked out again on the server from the form's settings and answers — never taken from the browser. If no payment is possible (keys missing), the form refuses to accept the response instead of letting it through for free. Refunds are made in Stripe or PayPal.
Typical uses
- Event and workshop registrations with places per option.
- Course enrolments, membership fees, deposits.
- Internal charge-backs where a card payment is required.
Frequently asked questions
Does SnagBane take a fee?
No. Payments go straight to your Stripe or PayPal account under your agreement with them.
Can the price depend on the answers?
Yes. Point the payment at a calculation, such as {tickets} * 45, and the server recalculates it when the form is sent.
Which currencies work?
The currencies Stripe and PayPal support for your account; SnagBane uses the right number of decimals for each (for example, none for JPY).
